General questions

How often is VacationTracker.net updated?

VacationTracker.net is periodically updated as legislation changes or new features are introduced. Generally, small updates happen every few months. Customers are notified in advance and we only perform the update outside office hours, to minimise down-time. Updates are included in the subscription price.

Can you add a feature for me?

We evolve VacationTracker.net based on customer feedback.  Let us know what you'd like to see and we'll try to incorporate it in the next update.

Can the system be installed on my company intranet?

This is possible for very large clients with several hundred employees.

The ASP (Application Service Provider) model ensures that each client only pays a fraction of the costs of the servers, security infrastructure, system and database software etc required to run it.  In addition, our staff support update and administer the service from a central location.

To offer an off-site version, we have to factor in the cost of hardware, software, ongoing off-site support, periodic updates and administrator training. For a company with fewer than 100 employees, an outright purchase and hardware replacements every 5 years would cost more than an ongoing annual subscription.

If you require an intranet version due to security concerns please contact us to discuss this.  We do not publish details of our security arrangements on the internet.

Set-up questions

Can I send an email informing all of my employees of their usernames and passwords at one time?

Yes. We can schedule this. We can even release the emails one department at a time, at specific intervals.

Can you clear out my test data so that I can start using VacationTracker.net with real data?

Yes - that's not a problem. Simply email or call us and we can do that.

I have a lot of employees. Do I have to manually enter data for each one?

No. We can send you a spreadsheet template. If you fill it in and return it to us, we can perform a bulk upload for you.

My annual leave year doesn't begin in January. Can the system handle a different A/L start date?

Yes.

The annual leave year can start from any date you specify.  Simply email or call us and we'll set your preferred annual leave year start date.

Free-trial / Evaluation

The system is empty! Where's the data?

When you create a trial account you are given a clean "Day One" system so that you can create your actual departments and employees etc.

Most customers say this gives them a good feel for how the system works.  If you'd prefer, we can manually populate the system with some test data for you - just let us know.

I've set up a lot of data in my trial - can I keep it when we go live?

Absolutely - when you go live any data that you created will still be there. If you'd rather clear out test data we can do that too. Simply call or email us.
